TORONTO (Dow Jones)--The Canadian dollar ended sharply lower in volatile trading Wednesday as wobbly commodity prices, a major domestic bankruptcy and a somewhat stronger tone in the U.S. dollar conspired to inflict considerable damage on the currency.
